Remodelling of trabecular bone in human distal tibia: A model based on an in-vivo HR-pQCT study

چکیده
An abnormal remodelling process of bones can lead to various bone disorders, such as osteoporosis, making them prone fracture. Simulations load-induced trabecular were used investigate its response mechanical signal. However, the role mechanostat in trabecular-bone has not yet been investigated simulations underpinned by a longitudinal in-vivo study humans. In this work, finite-element model based on 6-month HR-pQCT was developed and validated effect stimuli remodelling. The simulated changes microstructural parameters density compared with respective experimental results. A maximum principal strain (MPS) gradient (∇MPS) signals drive five-stage model, including additional over-strain damage stages. It found that distribution varied studied signals, along decreasing time levels volume fraction BV/TV, thickness Tb.Th surface area Tb.BS well increased separation Tb.Sp. Among these parameters, BV/TV together bone-remodelling from MPS demonstrated significant correlation data. provides good foundation for further development investigation relationships between loading human-bone microarchitecture.

Least-detectable and age-related local in vivo bone remodelling assessed by time-lapse HR-pQCT
We previously developed an image analysis approach for the determination of local sites of bone remodelling using time-lapse in vivo HR-pQCT. The involved image filtering for removing noise was chosen rather aggressively, and also removed some effects of the bone remodelling. In this paper, we quantify these filtering settings using ex vivo reproducibility HR-pQCT images, and determine the leas...
متن کاملIn vivo precision of three HR-pQCT-derived finite element models of the distal radius and tibia in postmenopausal women
BACKGROUND The distal radius is the most common osteoporotic fracture site occurring in postmenopausal women. Finite element (FE) modeling is a non-invasive mathematical technique that can estimate bone strength using inputted geometry/micro-architecture and tissue material properties from computed tomographic images. Our first objective was to define and compare in vivo precision errors for th...
متن کاملHigh-Resolution Peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography Can Assess Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of Human Distal Tibial Bone
High-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) is a newly developed in vivo clinical imaging modality. It can assess the 3D microstructure of cortical and trabecular bone at the distal radius and tibia and is suitable as an input for microstructural finite element (microFE) analysis to evaluate bone's mechanical competence. In order for microstructural and image-based mic...
متن کاملfocus on communication in iranian high school language classes: a study of the role of teaching materials in changing the focus onto communication in language classes
